Safe carrying methods

  • If you need to change direction while you are carrying an object, move your feet around, and then let the rest of your body follow. Never twist your body around to change direction as it can strain your back.

  • Make sure you have a clear view of what's ahead of you. Don't carry a load that is going to block your vision, or you might bump into something, or trip over something.

  • Slide the load if you can do that. This is a lot easier than lifting it and carrying it around.

  • If you need to put a load you're carrying on a bench or table, place it on the edge of the bench, then slide it in.
