PVC Fittings
Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) fittings and pipes, are generally white in colour and are used in the irrigation to carry water to the sprinklers.
It is the most commonly used piping for fixed sprinkler systems. Any fitting referred to as 'faucet' is a threaded fitting.
General information:
- pipe sizes of 15 - 200 mm
- high resistance to static pressure
- little resistance to external forces
- light weight
- easy to use
- corrosion resistant
- relatively inexpensive
- pipes may be joined in several ways, including by solvent cement, rubber ring joints and threaded fittings
- degrades in ultra violet light
- easily damaged by digging and by small rocks abrading it during operation
- softened by heat.
