Boom sprays are used to apply fertiliser in liquid form. This method has the advantage of providing quick results, as the fertiliser is absorbed quickly through the stomata of the turf grass leaves, rather than through the roots.

However, critical to the success of this method is the calibration of the spraying equipment. Nutrients need to be applied in water volumes that will enable them to stay on the leaf rather than drip off into the soil, where they may become unavailable to the plant.
