Demonstration showing how a scientific experiment might be conducted

Adam and Brendon are sitting on a bench at a basketball court.

Adam: I reckon that I can bounce the ball more times in a minute than you can.

Brendon: Well I don't think you can, so let's run a little test to see if you're right!

Adam: Okay here are the rules:

1. We use the same type of ball.
2. The ball must be bounced each time from the height marked on the wall.
3. We bounce for one minute.
4. We start and finish at the same time.

Do you agree?

Brendon: Agreed. I'm ready. Let's start the clock.

The clock starts, and runs for 60 seconds. At the end of 60 seconds, Brendon has bounced the ball 75 times, and Adam has bounced the ball 50 times.
